UBM Built Environment were looking for a venue to launch a London version of their show Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms (kbb), enabling them to expand the value and reach of the kbb brand.
The venue selected for the London show needed to be able to offer flexible exhibition space and breakout facilities in order to host the kbbreview Industry Awards. Following extensive research ExCeL London was selected as the ideal venue for kbb London. In addition to the facilities on offer at the venue, east London's high concentration of architects, designers and contractors meant a ready made visitor audience was based within easy reach of the venue.
- Overview
The theme of kbb London was innovation and in addition to the 124 exhibiting companies showcasing hundreds of new products at the show, UBM also created a truly blended event which comprised of seminars, the Sustainable Regulation & Residential Design Conference and the kbbreview Industry Awards 2011.
ExCeL London's space leant itself ideally as UBM were able to use the North Halls for the exhibition and conference and the Platinum Suite for the kbbreview Industry Awards. In addition, the convenient waste & water system located in the under floor ducts of the exhibition halls meant the exhibitors were able to showcase their kitchen's and bathrooms to full effect.
- Results
The launch of kbb London in May 2011 was a fantastic success for UBM. The show exceeded all expectations in its launch year with 25% more visitors than originally envisaged.
"We're extremely pleased with the show's results. The event has been tremendously beneficial for the kbb industry at large and the feedback we've had to this event is incredibly encouraging. kbb London's theme was innovation and we delivered that with everything from our feature areas to our exhibitors, not to mention the venue.
"ExCeL was the perfect venue to launch kbb London due to its modern facilities, and with the continuous regeneration taking place in East London, ExCeL made for the perfect venue to showcase the innovation of London's design community. I am confident that the future of kbb London is very bright indeed and look forward to the
next kbb London in 2013."
