IT Events at ExCeL London

Technology has always been an integral part of the customer service offering at ExCeL London. Over the last few years, we have developed Europe's largest IP infrastructure, capable of handling the most complex event network. The continued investment in our IT infrastructure, including permanently cabled event halls, ensures unrivalled service, reliability and flexibility.

IT EventsCisco:
Earlier this year, ExCeL London selected Cisco to help us with delivering the 'ultimate venue experience' for delegates, exhibitors and visitors. A network, based on Cisco technology, allows us to offer innovative collaboration to help organisers extend their audience reach, improve the quality of interaction with delegates and increase their return on investment.
Key Highlights:

  • New onsite and virtual services including video collaboration, web conferencing and digital signage
  • A venue-wide network with Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switches, which supports a wireless local area network, voice over Internet Protocol and IPTV services.
  • Advanced network-based technologies to help improve the experience for delegates. For example, collaboration solutions like Cisco TelePresence which give conference organisers the ability to invite speakers from anywhere in the world, without needing to attend in person.
  • Capability to support bandwidth-intensive applications (such as streaming high definition video) across the venue
  • Fully redundant, diverse 1Gbps internet links
  • Fully redundant 10Gbps backbone
  • High-end Cisco chassis-based switches delivering resiliency during hardware failure
  • 240 on premises phone lines (with an option of 1600 off premises phone lines split across 2 diverse exchanges)
  • Extensive structured cabling throughout the venue (including data outlets in each floor duct in the Event Halls)
  • Complete wireless coverage across the venue (dynamically managed to deliver best possible service even when interference is present)
  • Broadcast fibres linked to BT Tower
  • In-building mobile cell - delivers coverage throughout the venue
  • In-building TETRA digital trunked radio system providing clear communication across operational teams

"Collaboration is not only driving a new wave of growth, productivity and innovation in and between companies, employees and customers but also transforming the way business is conducted at all levels. Network-based technologies are radically changing the way we participate in events, both in person and virtually, helping exhibitors gain new levels of interest and engagement from their key audiences. ExCeL London is setting itself apart as a particularly innovative venue for conferences and exhibitions, and Cisco looks forward to hosting its Cisco Live! conference at ExCeL London in January 2011."
